NO MORE GAMES

A fringe benefit for the believer en route to higher Christian consciousness is that ninety-nine percent of the emotional suffering caused by his/her addictive programming to security, sensation and power disappears from his daily dance. He is able to drop all deceptive manipulative lower-order games - the money game, the security game, the male-female game, the power game, the knowledge game, the expert game, the power game, and so forth - and he presents himself simply to others: "Here I am." Free from any false self-image, he says, "It's all I've got."

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. ~Romans 5:1-2

DEFENSIVE POSTURES

Ragamuffin Daily:

Defensive Postures

I find myself threatened, challenged and exhilarated by Christ's freedom from human respect, his extraordinary independence, indomitable courage, and unparalleled authenticity. In preaching the gospel I have been graced to speak fearlessly in the knowledge and conviction that the Word of God must not be fettered, compromised, or watered down; but in my personal life, my fears and insecurities lead me voraciously to seek the approval of others, to assume a defensive posture when I am unjustly accused, to feel guilty over refusing any request, to doggedly live up to others' expectations, to be all things to all men in a way that would make the apostle Paul shudder.

~Manning

On the contrary, we speak as men approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please men, but God, who tests our hearts. 1 Thessalonians 2:4

ROMANS 1

God brought the topic of sexual sin to my attention yesterday in a book I was reading. Really good book, but I'll leave it for another day. I googled good ole' Mark Driscoll to see what he had to say about it. I highly recommend you take the time to listen him sharing truth.

WORKS OF MERCY

Works Of Mercy~

The unglamorous and little publicized works of mercy: the ministry of small things, feeding and sheltering, visiting the sick and incarcerated, educating, correcting, speaking a healing word, bearing wrongs, listening creatively, counseling, washing dirty feet, praying with people, are all ways of living the life of compassion. This is no minor matter. When Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:48, "Be perfect...as your heavenly Father is perfect," the same commandment is translated in Luck 6:36 as: "Be compassionate as your Father is compassionate."

"The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me." Mark 14:7

COURAGEOUS

We've all made it to another weekend! It looks like a very rainy one down here in south Florida. Rainy day = great opportunity for a movie!

Have you heard about the new movie Courageous? It has finally made it to the theatre...I can't wait to see it!

Also, if you would think to pray for my sister as she starts her journey today driving from Minnesota to Connecticut. Both for her journey and also the first time she will be away from Momma since her stroke. We are so thankful for all of the HARD WORK Courtney has put into Mom's recovery. She sure is one amazing lady!

IT'S MORE THAN A WORD... STEWARD

We had a great message at church on Sunday describing what it means to be a faithful steward. I encourage you to take a look here:

Matthew 25:23

Psalm 24 tells us that the earth and everything in it belongs to God. That includes everything we have. Our resources (possessions or "stuff"), abilities (talents), time, and even our trials are not really ours to do with as we please. They are things God loans to us to teach us something important. A faithful steward sees everything he or she has as a gift from God and manages it in a way that honors Him.

REDEEMING LOVE

What a beautiful Sunday morning! For some reason, every time I opened my bible today, I opened to Hosea. I took the hint, and sat down to read the short book.

Not only did we have a great message this morning at church, but the message of Hosea met me right where I'm at. Have you ever read the book? I hadn't...and suggest it if you have a few minutes!

I also found a great 18 minute summary by Ravi Zacharias. I love Ravi's passion for our God! The message is broken up into two short videos. He explains 4 important truths outlined in Hosea. It really is a MUST WATCH!!!
